🦢 A Different Kind of Patrol 🦢

While patrolling the Holland Road area in response to recent concerns about drug dealing, I came across something a little unexpected.

I spotted a swan and her two cygnets repeatedly calling out from the water's edge and after approaching the small family, I found another one of her cygnets had become badly entangled in a mass of thorny bushes and was unable to free itself.

After a careful rescue operation, and sacrificing my jacket in the process, I was able to safely release the young cygnet. Once freed, it quickly made its way back to its mother and joined its two siblings nearby.

It's not every day that policing involves wildlife rescues, but it was great to see the family reunited and heading off together safely.

Just goes to show that no two shifts are ever the same!
